This project is my tangible dialogue with the nature of Portugal. At the core of each work is the idea of transferring the essence of nature: from botanicals to geological forms. It is my way of preserving the spirit and emotion of the ocean coast, creating unique artifacts in which they find permanence. Every monotype is the result of an immersive and almost meditative process. I explore the Portuguese coast, discover unique objects, collect them, and record their forms. On the reverse of each piece, the precise geographical coordinates of where its impression was found are inscribed. This offers an opportunity to literally touch a piece of nature and to feel its connection to the ocean, even when far from the shore.
